Royal Prussian Automobile Corps Dagger. No Maker. A similar example by the Carl Eickhorn firm is illustrated page 44 of A Guide to Military Dress Daggers, Volume II by Kurt Glemser. Variation, cast brass hilt fittings show surface wear/age patina to the closed crown Imperial Naval style pommel and to the large capstan style Naval crossguard and heavy, pebbled quillion block without organizational insigne. Pommel shows minor loss of detail to several panels on the base of the crown. Ivory grip, without grip wire, shows light age toning with several hairline cracks and one chip on the upper edge. Plain plated, center-ridge/double-fullered blade measuring 13 ¾" in length grades Exc/Exc+ showing light surface wear/runner marks, some minor gray shadowing, and several small nicks to the cutting edges. Blade is without blade buffer pad. Black leather scabbard shows light surface wear/minor scuffing, but no creases or damage to the reverse stitching. Plain brass scabbard fittings show light wear/age with minor dings to the reverse of the upper fitting and obverse/reverse lower fitting. Upper scabbard fitting is complete with obverse frog stud/clip. RARE dagger!
